Britney Spears volunteered the information that her most recent relationship was over on Thursday and then spent Friday night in the company of that self same relationship partner. That might have been mildly entertaining to Britney and others who may have been in on it, but trying to mess with the paparazzi doesn't help things generally. If you genuinely don't like them your best recourse is to be very boring until it just isn't cost effective to follow you around.
I'd give some examples of celebrities who have been successful at this method, but I can't remember any of them.
