Ex-Boyfriend Justin Timberlake has reportedly vouched for Britney's continued viability as a recording artist. Rumor has it that he may have indicated his willingness to lend collaborate in an effort to appease a very disappointed Jive records.
Both Britney and Justin strike me as people who have recognized the saleability of NICE and try to incorporate it into their images even though they may not actually be nice.
