Who are Britney Spears' Friends?

The word is that Britney was partying with her friends after finalizing the divorce.

Are these the same friends that were willing participants in her earlier efforts at self destruction? Or are these lifelong friends who are going to support her as she starts over?

I know recovered alcoholics. They don't tend to hang around in the same places with the same friends after they recover. It just doesn't work.

Britney Spears may be OK

I feel sorry for Britney Spears. She has courted the attention of paparazzi to a great extent, but it is still just wrong that they are mobbing her so relentlessly.

I think that her days of relative stability since rehab are a good sign. I am assuming that she is clean, only because the tabloids would be all over any slip up.

Paparazzi are ruthless nasty asses because people who sell magazines are willing to pay them a lot of money for pictures. This makes the publishers sound nasty doesn't it. They pay the big bucks because magazines with candid pictures of celebrities sell. That makes the people who look at the pictures seem nasty too.

I haven't been on my high horse about paparazzi pictures too much, but I don't post them if I can help it either.

This blog used to be pretty crappy. I think it has gotten better in recent months. I even made a legitimate attempt at real journalism.

Despite what I thought were improvements, Google and Alexa continue to tell me in their cold calculating way that I suck. I have reduced the number of celebrity blogs that I update regularly so that I could concentrate on making quality posts in 2 or three of them.
I just found out about a community within the Blogosphere. That is designed to provide bloggers with much needed pats on the back for their efforts. When you join HighFivez.com, you can submit a blog or blog post for honest peer review.

Britney and Kevin Finalize Divorce Settlement

I am not going to play the telephone game with the details of custody and cash settlements. They haven't been officially disclosed, and they may never be. The most widely circulated story has been formally denied. If you have been asleep for the past six months, MTV News has a succinct recap of the saga of Britney Spears.

I think the media angle post divorce will include some scrutiny of Kevin's post settlement behavior. If he goes back to being all about the bling and the partying, it will be a subject that gets covered.

I am going to write down the different reasons that I have had for staying in hotels in no particular order. I guess it is going to be roughly in chronological order.

As a child, I used to attend a large agricultural competition that moved from one town to another every year. On years where it was very far from home, we would sometimes get a cheap hotel room for the weekend. I think the first time I ever had delivery pizza was during the Provincial 4H Show. I was amazed, it had pineapple on it. I think my parents made reservations over the phone well in advance. You have to make reservations if you are going to a yearly event in a small town.

When I was in my late teens, I was on a sports exchange with another school. I was billeted with a host family, but I ended up in a hotel one night after a school dance. I slept on the floor. I don't know who rented the room. I think I pitched in.

When I went to get a license for a job back in my twenties, the company paid for a hotel room for the two weeks. They got a really cheap hotel, but they were paying for my food too. Steak gets boring after a while.

I have had planned and unplanned hotel stays for romantic purposes. I have spent most of my life living quite far away from big city nightlife, but I enjoy participating in it every couple of years. I have gotten lucky with finding a hotel on the spur of the moment a few times, if not on price, at least I got a nice room.

There have been times when the rooms were not nice. When that happens, the only course of action I usually take is to stay out as late as possible and then checkout as soon as we are conscious. Courts in the USA look out for the best interests of children that are involved in custody disputes. In a perfect world, parents are looking out for the best interests of thier children. If parents could do this effectively, the judges would have more time to play golf.

The negative feelings that parents have towards each other often overshadows these best interests. Other things that come into play are selfishness and greed.

If seeing their mother in a state of total meltdown was traumatic for Britney's children, they should not have been subjected to the experience. If she is not emotionally strong enough to be a competant primary caregiver, she should resign herself to a lesser role until she is better.

I guess she is probably taking some expert advice and staying out of the limelight while she recharges her celebrity mojo. Rolling Stone editor Joe Levy advised her to get some music out ASAP and re-enter the business in the wake of the CD release. I think he is a smart man.
